The Book Thief
Liesel bor i en fosterfamilj i andra världskrigets Tyskland. Hon kan varken läsa eller skriva, men fascinationen för det skrivna ordet väcks till liv av den första bok hon stjäl, under sin brors begravning. Fosterfadern hjälper henne att lära sig, och när familjen gömmer en jude på flykt blir han och Liesel vänner. Med böckernas hjälp flyr de in i en drömvärld som för stunden får dem att glömma alla fasor. Filmen nominerades till en Oscar.
